The club was established December 31, 1942 as the founding fathers marched off to World War II and entrusted the club and its' boats to the youngest member, who was "three months short of his seventeenth birthday."

The club organizes and manages Yacht Racing, Youth Sailing Programs, Dining and Social Events, Cruising and Community Functions.
